Ova Animations built OvaPrint (package com.ova.print), a free app that prints PDF files to printers on your local network. It has no ads, no accounts and no tracking. The developer does not collect, receive or sell any of your data.
What the App Does with Your Data
OvaPrint works on your phone and talks only to the printer you choose. Nothing is sent to the developer or to any server run by the developer or by third parties.
- Your documents. When you print, the PDF is read on your phone, converted to a print format, and sent to the printer you picked. It is not uploaded anywhere else.
- Files from "Open with" and "Share". If you open or share a PDF into OvaPrint from another app, the app keeps a copy in its private storage so the job can be retried. These copies are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Printers. Printers you save (name and network address) are stored on your phone.
- Print history. A list of your recent print jobs (document name, printer, page count, options, status) is stored on your phone so you can see and retry jobs.
- Settings. Your print preferences are stored on your phone.
All of this stays on your device. OvaPrint turns off Android backup for its data, so it is not copied to your Google account or any cloud backup.
Network Use
- Finding printers. The app uses local network discovery (mDNS/Bonjour) to find printers near you.
- Printing. Print jobs are sent to your printer using IPP, normally over plain HTTP (port 631). This connection is usually not encrypted, so people on the same network could in principle see the data. Print only on networks you trust.
- Printer status. The app may ask the printer for its status (ink, paper, errors) using IPP and, as a fallback, SNMP.
Print jobs are usually not encrypted. Print only on networks you trust.
The app only contacts the printer you selected on your local network. It does not connect to the internet for its own purposes.
Permissions
- Internet and network state
- to reach your printer and check the connection
- Local network access
- to find and talk to printers on your Wi-Fi
- Notifications
- to show print progress, a Cancel button, and prompts such as "flip the paper" for manual two-sided printing. You can deny this and printing still works
- Foreground service (data sync)
- lets a print keep running while you switch to another app. It ends when the job ends
What the App Does Not Do
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party services that receive your data. The app does not ask for your name, email, location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Deleting Your Data
Uninstalling OvaPrint deletes everything it stored on your phone (history, saved printers, settings and copied PDFs). Documents already sent to a printer are handled by that printer.
Children's Privacy
OvaPrint is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the same address with an updated effective date.
