Simple Carroms

  • No account needed for offline play
  • Online play uses Google sign-in (Firebase)
  • Ads by Google AdMob
  • Your personal info is not sold

Ova Animations built Simple Carroms, a carrom board game you can play solo, against the computer, with a friend on the same phone, or online with a friend. The app is free and supported by ads. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. The developer does not sell your personal information.

Information Stored on Your Device

Practice, pass and play, and games against the computer run entirely on your device and need no account. Your settings (board style, sound, haptics and controls), your best break, and the code of an online game you can rejoin are stored locally on your device.

Online Play with a Friend

Online play needs a Google account. When you tap "sign in with google", the app signs you in to Firebase Authentication with your Google account, which stores your account identifier, email address, display name, profile photo URL and sign-in dates. The app shows your display name on the online screen so you can see which account you are using; the other player does not see your name or email. This sign-in system is shared with other Ova Animations apps, such as Arithmos Lite.

When you create or join an online game, the following is stored in the Firebase Realtime Database for that game:

  • The 4-character game code, the game's status and the time it was created
  • The account identifier of the host and of the friend who joined
  • Whether each player is currently connected, so the other player can see when a friend has dropped
  • Each shot taken (where the striker was placed and how it was struck) and the resulting position of the coins and the score, so both phones show the same game

This information can be read only by players signed in to the app who know the game code, and it is used only to run the game. Anyone you share the code with can join the game, so share it only with the friend you want to play.

Invite Links

When you share an invite, the app opens your phone's share sheet with a message containing the game code. The developer does not see who you send it to. Opening an invite link only passes the game code to the app so it can join that game.

Advertising

The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device model, operating system version and how you interact with ads. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device's Google settings.

The app relies on the following services, which may collect information under their own privacy policies:
